Oh did I say brother...? Let’s see.
Calvin Ramsay is back and I felt like writing something about him now because I had become lazy and also I was let down with his start which we all know how it was.
He has been recovering from a back issue and he is back now.
He is one of the new signings we made in the window which has just closed.
And as all our signings are data-driven this one too was based on data but I will be rumbling a lot than databasing as usual !
Calvin Ramsay is a player I admired from day one after hearing about our links to him I went straight away and started watching some clips of him and some matches he featured in.
WHY CALL HIM TRENT’S “TWIN BROTHER"
Calvin Ramsay had 1700 minutes in SPL as an 18-year-old boy which is already great because non of his age mates managed to get above 310 minutes.
As I said that our recruitment is mainly data-based so let's look at his figures in the SPL.
He is a more attack-minded player just as Trent is and also it’s what is required by our system, he was 2nd in attacking duels p90, 2nd in dribbles p90 as well as the success rate, also, he was 3rd in crossing attempts with a success rate of 33% among the players in his position in the SPL and to remind he was just 18 years old.
He possesses the ability to cross from wide spaces just like our young Trent, He also possesses this unique skill to tap the ball past defenders and run on to it which most of the time leaves defenders wondering where he went.
As the heading of his article says Trent’s “Twin Brother", I didn’t lie here is a fact, he has also played in the Midfield as a CM in the youth just as Trent.
NOW LET’S HOW UNIQUE HE IS.
OMG Calvin Ramsay is Ambipedal, I repeat Ambipedal meaning he is able to use both feet proficiently just like Kostas Tsimikas, imagine having all your full-backs being Ambipedal..... imagine imagine, dark days for opponents imo
Calvin Ramsay just as most Ambipedal players possesses an ability to cut inside and fire with his left, expect some goals baby...
He can also cut through lines accurately from deeper positions.
OH..I know now you are asking, this player is so good going forward but how is he defensively?
Am here to tell you facts am not going to lie or be biased.
He isn’t very (very) good defensively but he is good.
His physical profile shows all signs of improvement just like Trent we all know the physical transformation he has gone through since his debut for us, so no need to be worried about the duels and physical part of him at the moment.
He is good at applying pressure, I repeat "pressure" of course pressing is an identity that every Jürgen Klopp player must have and Calvin Ramsay has been having it even before becoming a red.
He has good anticipation for jumping forward to pick passes and orchestra attacks through transitions.
AREAS OF HIS GAME THAT NEED POLISHING.
Just as all 18-year-old players they need development and Calvin Ramsay isn’t special he needs improvement in different parts of his game and I think his 1v1 defensive technique needs development, aerial challenges need polishing, and finally, his first touch is relatively poor but his on-ball tricks are vibrant and can help us a lot in keeping those low block defenders awake while in possession.
In conclusion, I can’t wait to see him play and start breaking those records.
